Aquinius Mung’atia is a senior healthcare management and development professional with extensive experience integrating public health, environmental sustainability, and climateresilient approaches into health systems. He currently serves as Head of Special Projects at Aga Khan Hospital, Mombasa, where he leads highimpact internal initiatives and public–private partnerships across maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH), sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and climate and environmental programmes within the coastal cluster.
With strong expertise in programme design, strategic management, and stakeholder engagement, Aquinius champions integrated solutions that link health service delivery with environmental sustainability and climate mitigation and adaptation to strengthen health system resilience and improve outcomes for vulnerable populations. As part of the EUfunded HIGH Horizon project, he played a key role in quantifying carbon emissions and identifying emission hotspots in selected health facilities in Kenya, Zimbabwe, and South Africa, generating evidence to inform targeted, contextspecific mitigation strategies.
He holds an MSc in Healthcare Management and an MBA in Strategic Management, and is a published contributor to healthcare sustainability, research, and governance initiatives.
