Rachel Toku-Appiah is an international development leader with over 20 years of experience driving policy advocacy, program strategy, and communications across Africa. She is the Founder of RTA & Associates, a consulting practice that supports health initiatives, and social enterprises to design strategy, mobilise resources, and deliver high-impact programmes across Africa and globally.
Rachel has previously worked with the Gates Foundation, Global Citizen, Graça Machel Trust and Clinton Health Access Initiative, engaging health sector leaders to advance initiatives focused on equitable health systems, leadership development, and sustainable healthcare innovation. Her work often centres on empowering under-represented voices in health leadership and strengthening accountability between health institutions and the communities they serve. She is particularly passionate about advancing gender equity and amplifying youth-driven solutions that promote transparency, inclusion, and stronger health systems.
A Rhodes Scholar, she holds an MSc in Biochemistry from the University of Oxford and a BSc in Microbiology from the University of Botswana.
