Dr Juliet Nakku is a Senior Consultant Psychiatrist, and Executive Director for Butabika National Referral Mental Hospital, in Kampala Uganda. She is also the current WPA Zonal Representative for East and Southern Africa (Zone 14), and immediate Past President of the African Association of Psychiatrists and the Uganda Psychiatric Association,

She is a clinician and researcher in mental health. She has lead research as Principal and Co-principal investigator on various national and multi country studies in Uganda in the areas of Perinatal mental health, integrating mental health intoe primary health care, peer support for sever mental illness, and validation of a depression screening tool.

Dr Nakku is an honorary lecturer at Makerere University and a practicing psychiatrist for twenty three years. She is also a Chairperson of the Governing Council of the psychiatric nurses training school in Uganda where she is shaping the future human resources for mental health.
