Hyewon Lee is a pediatric dentist with doctoral training in dental medicine and health policy at Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. She has made significant contributions to maternal and child oral health field, including contributing to develop U.S. national prenatal oral health guidelines and measures and the launching of World Federation of Public Health Associations’ Global Maternal and Child Oral Health Initiative.

Hyewon deeply understands that women’s oral health challenges can lead to difficult birth outcomes and affect their children’s dental health. As a dedicated clinician and a mother, she is leading her team at the Global Maternal and Child Oral Health Center at Seoul National University in South Korea, managing the Korean International Corporation Agency’s first oral health development grant in rural Kenya—a program where her team trains Kenyan nurses and midwives to provide oral health education to pregnant women and mothers.
