Dr Sidze is a leading demographer specializing in maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH) in Africa. She leads the MNCH and maternal mental health research portfolio at the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC), promoting evidence-informed decision-making and African research leadership. Her work includes two pioneering initiatives: (1) the Grand Challenges–funded Sasa Mama Teen Project: Building Strong Minds for Stronger Adolescent Mothers in Nairobi Slums, which focused on co-designing and testing the feasibility of an innovative, youth-friendly toolkit for adolescent mothers living in informal settlements; and (2) the NIH-funded JAMO Project, which investigates the linkages between union formalization, kinship support, women’s mental health, and children’s health and developmental outcomes.
