Dr. Dorothy Kamya is Associate Dean of Postgraduate Medical Education at Aga Khan University (AKU) in Nairobi and a Consultant Anaesthetist at Aga Khan University Hospital. She trained in medicine at University College London and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (UK). She holds a Master’s degree in Medical Education from Cardiff University, where she graduated with distinction and received the dissertation prize, and an MBA from Strathmore University.
Dorothy is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (Advance HE, UK) and a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership (UK). She oversees postgraduate specialist training at AKU and led the successful ACGME-International accreditation of its postgraduate medical programs—the first such accreditation in Africa.
Passionate about developing leaders in healthcare and education, Dorothy mentors faculty and residents and contributes to regional health professions education initiatives. She is also an alumnus of the Harvard Kennedy School Executive Leadership Program and has served as a leadership coach for the Adaptive Leadership for Africa program.
