Dr. Mary Okumu Jimoh is a gender researcher and development practitioner whose work focuses on the intersection of gender equity, climate resilience, and sustainable development in Africa. She holds a PhD in Sociology and advanced counselling qualifications from institutions in the United Kingdom and Kenya. Her research and practice examine how social inequalities, environmental change, and access to resources shape community wellbeing and health outcomes, particularly for women and marginalized groups.
Dr. Jimoh’s work engages with ecofeminist perspectives and indigenous knowledge systems to advance inclusive approaches to climate adaptation, food security, and community resilience. Through research, policy engagement, and community-based initiatives, she advocates for gender-responsive development strategies that strengthen health systems and sustainable livelihoods.
Alongside her academic and consulting work, Dr. Jimoh runs an urban farming initiative that promotes climate-smart agriculture and women’s economic empowerment, linking grassroots practice with research and policy dialogue across Africa.
