Merab Mulindi is a Psychologist with wide experience in mental health. She runs
Befrienders Kenya (BK), a charitable organization focusing on service provision through various platforms including helpline services, to those in distress and at risk for suicide.
Befrienders Kenya is a member of Lifeline International. Merab is a board member of International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) and was key in the implementing an IASP-BK Mutuini (Kenya) community-based project. She continues to be involved in educating communities on mental health in general and suicide prevention in particular as effort to reduce stigma to enable affected people get necessary support. Recent work includes a study on Suicide Bereavement and Impact of Stigma on Help-seeking behavior (Kenya) done in partnership with University of California and Kenya Medical Research Institute. She was part of the team that developed the Kenya Suicide Prevention Strategy and continues to be part of the implementation committee.
