Dr Ojo Tunde Masseyferguson is a psychiatrist and a Global Mental Health expert with a master’s degree in Global Mental Health from King’s College London and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

He is currently the Director/ National Coordinator for the National Mental Health Programme, Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare Nigeria

Under his leadership, the mental health landscape has witnessed significant transformation. Some of the achievements include:

1. Enactment of the National Mental Health Act 2021

2. Establishment of mental health leadership and governance structure at both national and subnational levels

3. Development of a new National Mental Health Policy

4. Development of the first National Suicide Prevention Strategic Framework for Nigeria

5. Contextualization of mental health gap Action Programme (MHGAP) 3.0

6. Leveraging on existing platforms to integrate mental health across various disease programmes.

7. ongoing efforts towards the decriminalisation of attempted suicide in Nigeria.
