Dr. Samuel Likindikoki is a psychiatrist, academic, and global mental health expert with over 20 years of experience in research, clinical practice, and health systems strengthening in Tanzania and sub-Saharan Africa. He is a Senior Lecturer at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), a Medical Specialist at Muhimbili National Hospital, and Program Director for the Violence Against Children Survey (VACS) in Tanzania. He is the founding President of the Tanzania Psychiatrists Association and a Commissioner with the Lancet Commission on Gender-Based Violence and Maltreatment of Young People. His work focuses on mental health, gender-based violence (GBV), violence against children (VAC), and HIV, with expertise in community-based interventions, stigma, and vulnerable populations. Dr. Likindikoki has contributed to national policies, including Tanzania’s mental health and violence prevention strategies, and continues to advance evidence-based, integrated approaches to improving mental health systems and outcomes.
