Dr. Rita Arogo

Dr. Rita Arogo is the Reproductive and Maternal Health Technical Lead with the World Health Organization (WHO) in Kenya. A specialist obstetrician-gynaecologist with extensive experience in advancing reproductive and maternal health, with a strong focus on health systems strengthening, quality of care, gender equity, and policy development and implementation.

Dr. Arogo holds a Doctor of Medicine (MBChB) and a Master of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the University of Nairobi, with additional certifications in global health policy, leadership and management, Implementation Research and Programme management from the University of Washington and Emory University.

She provides leadership in the development, adaptation, and implementation of WHO guidelines, strengthening human resource for health, and advancing data-driven decision-making. Her work includes advocacy and policy engagement to address gender-related barriers and promote equitable access to quality health services.

Before joining WHO, she held several public health and clinical roles at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, Jhpiego, AMREF, and Kenyatta National Hospital
