Dr. Tegbar Yigzaw Sendekie is a medical doctor with advanced degrees in public health and extensive experience in health workforce development, health professions education, and leadership across Africa. He holds an MD, MPH, PhD, and international fellowship in health professions education. Dr. Sendekie has provided senior leadership for major donor-funded initiatives, including serving as Chief of Party for multimillion dollar health workforce programs in Ethiopia and Rwanda. His work has focused on scaling and transforming health professionals’ education and strengthening health workforce management and regulation systems. He has held faculty and academic leadership roles, supervised master’s and PhD students, and published extensively on health workforce, and public health. Dr. Sendekie has also served as President of the Ethiopian Medical Association and contributes to national and global advisory committees. Currently, he is a consultant with the Mastercard Foundation providing strategic and operational support for health workforce initiatives in multiple African countries.
