Dr. Rebecca Katherine Ivic is Professor of Health Communication and Associate Dean of Research in the College of Communication & Information Sciences at the University of Alabama. She is a leading scholar in health communication and information with research focused on the quality, integrity, and societal impact of health information in digital environments. Dr. Ivic serves as Executive Editor of the Journal of Health Communication and is a Commissioner and Co-Secretariat Lead for the Nature Medicine Commission on Quality Health Information for All, where she leads work on the development of global indicators to assess health information systems. Her interdisciplinary scholarship integrates communication science, computational methods, and policy analysis to examine misleading information, public trust, and the role of institutions in shaping health information environments. Dr. Ivic has published more than 70 peer-reviewed articles and secured funding from federal, foundation, and institutional sources. Her work bridges research, policy, and practice, advancing global collaboration to strengthen trustworthy health information systems and public health communication.
