Vivianne Ihekweazu

Organization: Nigeria Health Watch
Session Topic: Trust in Science: Countering Misinformation in the Age of Digital Health
Categories: Digital Health, AI, and Technological Innovation

Vivianne Ihekweazu is the Managing Director of Nigeria Health Watch, where she leads strategy and advocacy to improve health and access to services in Nigeria. She works at the intersection of policy, communication, and public engagement, designing campaigns and partnerships with governments, nonprofits, and development partners.
Her work explores how trust and information shape health decisions and access to care. She focuses on persistent inequities, particularly affecting women and underserved populations, and examines how communication, evidence, and public narratives influence behaviour, policy priorities, accountability, and the links between data, decision-making, and everyday health outcomes.
Before moving fully into the health sector, she worked with communications and research organisations across Europe and Africa. She holds degrees from the University of Pretoria, the University of Sussex, and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and is an African Public Health Leaders Fellow at Chatham House.
